Mark Brooks has been trustee chair of the ManKind Initiative for over ten years. As well as co-creating a one day training course on male victims and a national directory of services, he sits on a number of national stakeholder bodies and regularly appears in the media. He is a qualified domestic abuse services manager and was awarded an OBE in the 2019 New Year’s Honours list. He is a communications expert by profession and has spent the majority of his career in politics, financial services and education.

He is also an ambassador for International Men’s Day UK and a co-founder of the Men and Boys Coalition, an inclusive network of 80 charities, academics and professionals concerned about the wellbeing of men and boys. He has also stood twice for Parliament.

The ManKind Initiative is national charity (based in Taunton) and established by both men and women over 17 years ago becoming the first British charity to support male victims of domestic abuse. Since 2001, we have been at the forefront of providing services, support and campaigning for male victims ensuring that they (and their children) receive the support and recognition they need. We have seven trustees (three men and four women,) who play an active role within the charity whilst we have six ambassadors all of whom are domestic abuse survivors.
